As you've probably already noticed, I refuse to have a website about just one subject. Few people actually concentrate on any one thing that much, and I feel that a multi-subject site reflects a real person so much better. It certainly reflects me better! I really do program, design, craft, do things to my house, cook, belly dance, keep up with scientific advances, and occasionally go out and do things with my husband. I really play RPG's (pencil and paper) and video games, and like punk shows. And now, I really administer my own site. (Where do I find the time? ;) )
Here in Wal-Mart country - northwest Arkansas - I live a semi-charmed life with my husband, daughter, and three cats in a tiny house. Although I spent a long time in retail, and have even worked as an audit claims processor, I finally got to use my Bachelor of Science in Microbiology as a microbiologist at a state veterinary diagnostic lab. Right now, I'm back in retail, in charge of the jewelry making department of a craft store. I almost have it all; wonderful husband, beautiful daughter, beloved family and friends, hobbies fun enough to enjoy my obsession with them, house, car, even a vacation spot on a scenic lake.
I guess I'm what they'd call functionally mentally ill with an anxiety disorder and depression. Like most people with a chronic disease, as long as I take my medicine, you'd never know I'm sick. My therapy, since mental health coverage is scarce, is beading, knitting, and my weblog. I read everything I can get my hands on , but I mostly read classic science fiction, cyberpunk, Terry Pratchett, and history, plus some scientific journals and craft magazines. I also play video games every once in a while, but nowhere near as much as my husband. I like Tekken and Baldur's Gate, he likes RPGs.
